Hey guys, my name is Nicholas Ryan Wong Jun Jie. You can call me Nicholas~ In case you get hungry and have no idea what to eat, here's the best idea for you. Now I'm going to share with you some of the top recommended restaurants around Kota Damansara. Firstly, I love steamboat a lot. This is because I can drink bowls and bowls of soup until I am satisfied. In the same way, I love barbecue as well especially Korean's style of barbecue. Recently, I found this newly opened restaurant and suggested by my friends to go and have a try. It is actually a Taiwanese Steamboat, which is my first time trying.
# 1:
神来一锅 GOD'S DELICIOUS POT @ DATARAN SUNWAY
The staffs in this restaurant are super friendly and even though I speak fluent mandarin still I will get blur as they have their taiwanese accent which I am quite confused. It makes me feel like I am having my dinner in Taiwan. (It is okay if you don't know how to speak mandarin, because they know how to speak English :)
As you can see there are 8 soup bases in total for you to choose from Pork Bone, Tom Yum, Milk, Konbu, Shacha, Herbal, Taiwan Spicy and Medicinal.
We ordered 3 pots, one is Delicious pot Seafood with Konbu base (Rm23.80), one is Selected delicious pot Beef with Herbal base (Rm38.80) and one is Roasted pot Pork with Pork Bone base (Rm38.80).
Below is what you can expect from the roasted pot set:
- Soup Base – Pork Bone, Tom Yum, Konbu, Cheese Milk, Kimchi, Herbal Soup, Taiwan Mala, Curry Laksa, Tomato, Mushroom. (Choose 1)
- Meat Type – Spanish Iberico (+RM8.80), Pork, Chicken, Beef, Lamb, Seafood, Vegetarian. (Choose 2)
- Rice/Noodle- Braised Pork Rice 卤肉饭(+RM3.00), Taiwan Pan Mee 板面(+RM2.00), Taiwan Pearl Rice, Udon, Yee Mee, Bee Hoon, Huo Guo Mee 火锅面. (Choose 1)
- Beverage – Lemon Winter Lemon Smoothie, Lime Lemon Smoothie, Longan Red Date Herbal Tea, Health Honey Vinegar, Honey Lemon, Health Wumei. (Choose 1)
- Assorted – Fishball, Fishcake, Mushroom, Corn, Cabbage, Lettuce, Pumpkin, Carrot and Beancurd. (Included in set)
We ordered some meat sliced and a bowl of Braised Pork rice, which is a MUST TRY! !
The overall dining experience in God’s Delicious Pot is satisfying yet only recommend for once in a blue moon occasions or family gathering.

Interior of the restaurant ~~
Their menu ~
From the description in their menu, I understand that this franchise originates from Japan and all their pancakes comes with a Japanese touch to it. Many of their dishes, including the pancakes, are customized to Japanese flavors and this makes them unique. All their menu items are listed in both English and Japanese. They also serve beer on their menu and it is limited to Asahi and Heineken. Do note that this is a Pork Free restaurant but they do not have the Halal status.
Mocha @ RM 7.90
Their Mocha was quite decently fixed and had the right balance. I would rate their Mocha at 8 out of 10.
Homemade Fried Potato Wedges @ RM 11.90
This was a dish that I ordered. The Potato Wedges were lightly fried in butter and were garnished with parsley and garlic herbs. Definitely a very good preparation and it tasted fantastic. It was definitely something different to the usual Fried Wedges.
Cream Cheese Strawberry Pancake @ RM 13.90
This is one of their top sellers. It is a triple decker of pancakes with a thick topping of cheese and has strawberry sauce poured above it. A dash of cream is also served on the sides. For someone who loves sugar, this dish would be ideal. It was pretty good.
Overall, this restaurant does serve a good alternative to the traditional pancakes and if you are looking for a place to try pancakes out of the traditional serving, then this is a MUST TRY place. I definitely enjoyed my brunch here and would surely return again to try some of their other pancakes offered and perhaps their all day breakfast sets too.

Their menu ~
I came to know Hakka Rang because I furthered my studies in Kota Damansara.
I scanned the menu thoroughly or else I wouldn’t have spotted the individual rice and noodle section which contains a number of single portion meals. Since I'm at a Hakka restaurant, the Hakka Noodle @ RM 7.80 was the natural selection. It topped with generous minced meat and two stuffed tofu pok, it tasted as good as it looked. The noodle portion is large and the price is reasonable.
Drunken Egg @ RM 12.80 – a dish either you like it or you don’t because of the Chinese wine. The wine packs such a strong aroma that even the lightest whiff would jolt your senses.
My favorite dish of the meal was the Homestyle Steamed Garoupa @ RM 35.80 (300 g fillet), delightfully fresh and well cooked with firm and delicate flesh. The simple toppings of fermented black beans, chopped chili, fried onions and scallions work well together to impart a subtle flavor while retaining the natural sweetness of the fish.
Another similar dish prepared using Garoupa fish head could be ordered too and the price is highly dependent on the sizes they have. Initially I wanted to opt for the fish head version but the smallest piece they had was 800 g.
Conclusion, is good and honest food, reasonable price with friendly service. Definitely a restaurant worth to try out and revisiting again.
# 5 : ShellFish
Seafood is definitely among our favorite things to eat, mostly because of the sheer amount of ways you can cook and eat it. You can also bet that we’re always on the lookout for interesting new dishes too! One place that’s certainly intrigued me is this new joint in Kota Damansara which serves up a huge variety of different seafood. ShellFish, which just opened its doors to customers earlier this month, offers a unique Szechuan-inspired roasted fish dish that’s loaded with an abundance of seafood and vegetables. Brought to you by popular seafood chain, Shell Out, ShellFish’s Szechuan-inspired roasted fish, served steamboat-style, is something every seafood lover simply cannot miss!
Firstly, you can customize your dish any way you like! Customers can choose from five different types of fish such as Threadfin (Senangin), Grouper (Kerapu), Barramundi (Siakap), Red Snapper (Ikan Merah) or Tilapia Red (Talapia) and a wide variety of fresh seasonal seafood (i.e. scallops, clams, prawns, silky tofu, baby octopus, etc.) and vegetables along with a side of rice.
On top of that, if you’re one who’s very particular about the way you like your seafood, you can also select the flavor of your soup base (sour or milky) and pick what level of spice you’d like (if your taste buds are up for a challenge, try out their Insane Chili Mix to amp up the spice even more!). I got to try out the Siakap and Senangin which were served in the sour and milky soups respectively. In terms of spice, I tried mine at comfortable Level 2, so if you’re a fan of spice, don’t be afraid to turn up the heat. Both fishes were cooked to perfection, flaking right off the bone (and yes, no overwhelming fishy taste!).
# 6 : Restaurant Jin Xuan Hong Kong
Restaurant Jin Xuan is a great Hong Kong Dim Sum which committed to good food and excellent service, Jin Xuan offers diners a wide variety of good tasty dim sum in a comfortable air-conditioned environment and also reasonable prices. The dim sum are prepared in their own factory with strict quality control to ensure that the taste is consistent at all their branches.
Their menu ~~These are my obligatory orders :
Siew Mai
Chee Cheong Fun
Lastly, the clean and no-frills dining area is furnished with marble topped kopitiam tables and wooden chairs; nothing to distract attention from the food.
Jin Xuan is especially proud of its Home-made Siu Mai and Home-made BBQ Pork Buns. Some other specialties are HarGaw, Steamed Fish Balls and Golden Buns.
Address : 48-1 & 48-2, Jln PJU 5/9
Dataran Sunway, Kota Damansara
47810 Selangor.
# 7 : Fifth Palate
This is a family-run restaurant, Fifth Palate has managed to become a household name in Kota Damansara. The father is tasked with preparing homemade yogurt, the daughter is responsible for customer service reassurance and the son has to ensure the smooth running of the kitchen. Calling the place Fifth Palate is also a resonance of the family’s last name, Ng (which is phonetically similar to the word ‘5’ in Mandarin).
Signature Dishes: French Toast, Turkish Baked Eggs, Kimchi Bacon Fried Rice
Their menu ~
Offerings inside menu is pretty interesting where they have a combination of Japanese and western food, where I did observe many order their Japanese range food.
French Toast known as Drunken Frenchman @ RM 28 is their chef signature and it is a must order and decided to go along with the recommendations as in the menu the descriptions sounds pretty good. French Toast with bacon, caramelized bananas, Fifth Palate’s own-made chunky peanut butter topped with Forty Licks vanilla ice cream & Guinness Stout reduction. Presented nicely and smells good as it served. Its a nice combination of flavors where Guinness stout reduction is not bitter yet saltiness and sweet ice cream do pairs very well.
Turkish Baked Eggs @ RM19 is a heavy meal where filled with tangy mix of chorizo slices, spiced aubergine, mozzarella & tomato sauce. Solid in taste, and I could not finish this whole set myself. Sharing would be recommended.
Seems that this is a cafe that serve pretty decent food and I sure do not mind to come back to try their Japanese range next.
Stalkers is a retro concept café that is furnished and furbished with materials from the olden times. To modernize it a little bit, there are also graffiti sprayed across the walls, creating some sick art to complement the vintage vibe that the furniture gives off.
Their menu ~
Signature Dishes: English Breakfast, Herb Butter Rice with Grilled Salmon, Grilled Chicken Salad
Address : No.3-1, Jalan PJU 5/3, Dataran Sunway, Petaling Jaya, Selangor 47810.
# 9 : Olfactory Bulb
Nothing is more important to Olfactory Bulb than coffee, which is why it was conceptualized to be an all-in-one coffee mixology bar, allowing customers to have a shot at deciding their own drinks and they get to come up with their own mixes as well. The interior is pretty dark, illuminated by hanging bulbs, but that only adds to the mysterious vibe of a coffee mixology bar.
Their menu ~
Signature Dishes: Tropical Island Waffle, Cool Quenchers
